Digital Motorsports very own Laura Hannon makes it to the final of Formula Woman
Our newest member of the team Laura, has been hard at work training for the Formula Woman competition in the UK this week. She made it to the final 50 of the competition and will be representing Ireland and Digital Motorsports.
Laura has had a lifelong passion for Motorsport that drove her to a career in Mechanical Engineering and she found herself gaining valuable leadership and corporate skills in the Pharmaceutical industry before making the jump to Motorsport in November last year.
Laura started this recent journey by launching her own Motorsport themed children’s book in collaboration with Formula Female and The CUH (Cork University Hospital) Charity, called Daisy’s 1st Race Car that she illustrated and wrote herself. The book was created to empower the next generation to follow their own dreams and passions regardless of social expectations and norms. She created a female character to play with gender diversity and show that girls can race too.
Formula Woman Training
Inspired by her own character Daisy, Laura entered an international novice racing competition called Formula Woman to become a race car driver in a McLaren GT4 in the British GT Cup this year and she is now a finalist in the competition.
The finals will be filmed in the PF International Kart Circuit in the UK on the 2-3 March. From this the top 15 will be selected to take part in a shoot-out competition at Croft Circuit, where the top 10 will be decided. The top 10 finalist will be flown to an undisclosed location in Europe to battle it out to win Formula Woman.
There will be 6 winners; 4 drivers and 2 reserve drivers.
Laura has been busy training on the Digital Motorsports simulators and getting into any car she can to prepare. Working with such talented drivers that happen own a few race cars is a huge bonus, so she is getting the full Digital Motorsport experience after all it is where real racers go. If the MX-5 goes missing we know where it is!
Brand Ambassador
We are backing Laura 100% and are delighted to announce her as a Digital Motorsports Ambassador. Laura is only at the start of her Motorsport journey and is using sim racing to develop her driving skills and to progress her Motorsport career.
